Germination

Germination is a great way to make sure your seeds are
started before you wait valuable garden space on dead seed.
Germination is also a good way to test posted dated seeds.
my wife and I had different versions fo the same method
to germinate seeds. Both of which seemed primitive looking back.

First method  :

Version A

paper plate
paper towels
seeds
water

Version B
Pie pan (foil)
2x sponge
seeds
water

method :

dampen  paper towels / sponges.
add 1 on plate / pie pan
place seeds in a signal layer on towel / sponge
add layer 2 of towels/ sponges
keep wet
check every 24 hours

second  method:
Not all that impressed with the first method ,
after all i learned it as a little kid. i went on line.
first i found a lot of the same method as above..
At that point i started looking at hydroponics .
That was the golden ticket. A teacher posted a
video on starting bean sprouts in coin tubes.
He used cotton balls as the base and just added seeds.
I had to try it and bam !! No pumpkin
So i cut the coin tube out and what do you know
Victory!
after some playing around with it.
I found that a shot glass with a cottonball
in the base filled just over the top of the
ball with a seed on top worked great.
I did end up putting a second ball on top and
adding a tad more water. With amazing
results.
I was like combining the first and the
new method and it works perfect

Problem
! seed at a time

Pro
almost always works
.
